Scope and Contents This is a miscellaneous collection of papers of and relating to von Hugel, one of the co-founders of St Edmund's House. He was the second son of Karl von Hugel (1795-1870), Baron of the German Empire, and Elizabeth Farquharson, daughter of a Scots general in the Indian Army. After much worldwide travel he was appointed in 1883 to the Curatorship of the Museum of Archaeology and Ethnology in Cambridge.
